What to include

  • Your Unity version, and whether you use Serialization Rescue or Serialization Rescue Lite.
  • The report: in the Serialization Rescue window, click Copy report and paste the text into your email.
  • What changed: the class you renamed or moved, or the script that lost its .meta file.
  • If you can, the file that won’t load (a scene, prefab or asset), zipped.

Common questions

Unity says “Unknown managed type” or “The associated script can not be loaded”. Can it fix that?

Yes, when the cause is a renamed or moved class, or a script that lost its .meta file: the values are still in your files. Scan the project, check the suggested class, then repair (full edition). See Scanning and Repairing in the manual.

Which Unity versions does it support?

Unity 2022.3 LTS and newer, including Unity 6, with the Built-in render pipeline, URP or HDRP. It runs only in the Editor, so nothing goes into your builds.

My project saves assets in binary. Will it work?

It needs the Asset Serialization Mode Force Text, which is Unity’s default (Project Settings > Editor > Asset Serialization). Binary files can’t be read.

What’s the difference between Lite and the full edition?

Lite scans, suggests the class, writes the text report and runs the CI check. The full edition also repairs: it maps types, re-links scripts and removes orphaned data, with a preview, backups and restore. See Editions.

Can I undo a repair?

Yes. Every file is backed up before it is written, and Backups > Restore puts it back; a restore can be undone too. The 20 most recent backups are kept in your project’s Library folder, so version control remains the safest undo. See Undo: backups.

Can I run it in CI?

Yes, in both editions: a batch-mode check fails the build when missing types or scripts appear, and can write a text report for the logs. See Continuous integration.

How do refunds and licences work?

Payments and refunds are handled by the store you bought from. Asset Store purchases are covered by the Unity Asset Store EULA; copies bought anywhere else by the LICENSE.md file in the download.

Does the tool send any data?

No. It runs only inside your Unity Editor, collects no data and makes no network requests. Support emails go through Cloudflare Email Routing to the publisher’s Gmail inbox.
